WEST GRAND CANYON FACTS

  • Roughly 2/3 of travelers to West Grand Canyon come from Las Vegas which is 125 miles away.
  • Whether you take a bus or heli, you can add the Skywalk or a raft trip down the Colorado River (and still be back by night time!) Heli tours can also add a Sunset option and Vegas Strip over flight.
  • Since 1965 Papillon Helicopters has been the world’s oldest and largest sightseeing company flying an estimated 600,000 passengers a year on its daily tours to the Grand Canyon
  • West Grand Canyon is the only place where you can fly to the bottom of the canyon. The other Grand Canyon locations have restrictions that forbid aircraft from flying below the rim (unless you are being transported for a white water rafting trip.)

Skywalk

The Skywalk is a horseshoe-shaped, glass-bottom structure that allows visitors to walk 70 feet past the edge of the Grand Canyon wall and stand 4,000 feet above the Colorado River. It is one of the most recognizable points in the Grand Canyon.
Visitors can go to West Grand Canyon with or without doing the Skywalk, but many feel it is the most memorable part of their trip.

”It was amazing to stand on a glass platform 4,000 feet above the Grand Canyon floor. Incredible view of Eagle Point.”
